Livrada is a Pasadena, CA-based startup with a vision to transform the digital media retail industry. Livrada launched its first product - title-specific e-book gift cards - last summer in Target stores across the country, and is now working on retail expansion and developing new products to serve authors directly. Office

We work out of a beautiful office in the heart of Old Town Pasadena. We work hard and have a lot of fun together. We have free drinks, snacks, and food. Be forewarned, you will be required to participate in "old-fogie music time" on certain afternoons; this is when members of our team take turns DJing music from their formative years. It is not optional.

Rails Developer

We are seeking a talented engineer to support the founding team during this very critical phase of our company. This role has the potential to grow into a full-time position with salary and benefits.

What you'll be doing:

• Designing, building, and maintaining infrastructure and web features to help Livrada exceed every user's expectation
• Integrate with publishers, retailers, and book-sellers to provide a cross-platform solution
• Proposing/exploring new tools and technologies to enable the team to work faster and better

Requirements:

• 2+ years Ruby on Rails experience
• Proficient with Javascript/JQuery
• Experience working with cloud hosting (AWS, Rackspace)
• Experience in setting up/maintaining Mysql/Postgres
• Git/Mercurial, Capistrano, rspec

We are seeking a part-time graphic designer to support the founding team during this very critical phase of our company. This role has the potential to grow into a full-time position with salary and benefits.

What you'll be doing:

• Creating layouts and designs from initial concept to production for web and print
• Creating all collateral material for web and print
• Designing and creating mockups and workflows from concept to production including wireframes for web, presentations, marketing materials, etc.
• Establishing product branding themes and maintain consistency across all media
• Assisting the team with brainstorming, marketing, and ad strategies for web and print

Requirements:

• Degree in Art or equivalent experience/training
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop/Illustrator/InDesign)
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and a variety of projects simultaneously
• Good work ethic and self-motivated
• UI/UX design experience is a plus
• Knowledge of front-end code (HTML, CSS, JS) is a plus
